The book “Fun Art and Geometry” is aimed at children of 8-12 and is a re-write of our original, which was acclaimed by the Mathematical Association and the Association of Teachers of Maths for its approach to practical geometry.  It is designed as a fun book showing how to use the disk compass (now contained in the cutting system) to draw geometrical designs, which are both exciting and fascinating.  We’ve included several geometry constructions, which are included in the UK GCSE syllabus, some curve stitching, and a taster at the end to tempt you to experiment further.  This book is included in the Fun Art and Geometry Kit so you can buy the lot as a present

Just a few examples…

However, if you want to buy just the Disk Compass (with the mechanical pencil) we can supply this for just £5.95 plus P&P.  It is probably the most powerful geometry instrument you can use manually since it can draw any circle you want up to 200mm diameter with far more ease and accuracy than any other circle drawing instrument.  It has the added advantage of safety over most other circle drawing instruments which normally have sharp points capable of inflicting serious accidental wounds (there are 120 hospital cases each year resulting from such instruments –NHS stats).  If you wish to buy a class set for your school just e-mail bill@circlescribe.com and we can discuss some very advantageous discount.  I can also come to visit your school to lead some fascinating recreational Maths activities. Ring 0151 289 5681 to discuss.

This is the Cardioid.  Reminiscent of Spiro-graph?  A fascinating and absorbing activity for children aged say 8 and above

Remember Curve Stitching in School.  Well this time you create the patterns by making needle holes through the disk as you turn it.  Holes are precisely placed!

The Six-petal flower done with compasses is always hit or miss but this way it’s always exact!!

Cartoons with a geometry instrument?

And much more….
